Today, the Municipal Emergency Management Bureau announced the official commissioning of the first batch of 20 intelligent emergency shelters, while completing the upgrading and renovation of 35 old emergency sites, building an urban emergency support network featuring "integration of shelters and sites". The newly commissioned shelters are equipped with emergency lighting, first-aid kits, drinking water reserves and other supplies, and are fitted with intelligent monitoring systems that can upload real-time status inside the shelters. The renovated emergency sites have added charging ports, temporary bedding storage areas, and barrier-free access to meet the needs of special groups. "The shelters are all located around densely populated areas such as communities and schools, within a 5-minute walk," said a person in charge of the Municipal Emergency Management Bureau. He added that the bureau will carry out training on the use of emergency facilities and distribute graphic manuals to ensure citizens master emergency avoidance skills proficiently, and continuously consolidate the urban safety defense line.
