Community Disaster Prevention and Shelter Pods Put into Use, Strengthening the Safety Net for People's Livelihoods

Recently, community disaster prevention and shelter pods have been officially put into use, building a "mobile safety barrier" for residents. Each pod can accommodate 50 people for emergency shelter and is equipped with essential supplies such as emergency lighting, drinking water, food reserves, and first-aid kits. It is also fitted with a ventilation system and communication equipment, ensuring that people can take safe shelter for more than 72 hours in the event of disasters like earthquakes and heavy rains.

"I used to always worry about having no place to go when a disaster strikes suddenly. Now with a shelter pod right downstairs, I feel much more secure," said Ms. Wang, a resident. Community staff members stated that the pods are located in open areas to facilitate rapid evacuation. In the future, regular disaster prevention drills will be carried out to guide residents on the proper use of the equipment inside the pods.

It is learned that the local authority plans to promote such shelter pods in 12 communities this year, while simultaneously improving emergency response plans. Through the combination of "hardware (facilities) + services", it aims to enhance the disaster prevention capacity at the grassroots level and effectively protect the lives and property of the people.
