Recently, the first batch of underground shelter disaster prevention and refuge safety rooms in a certain city were officially completed and put into use, adding a solid barrier against disasters for the citizens. These safety rooms are located in the underground space of the city's core area and are constructed with high-strength anti-seismic and anti-shock materials. Each room can accommodate 50 people for emergency sheltering. The interior is equipped with emergency lighting, ventilation systems, drinking water reserves, and medical emergency kits, which can meet the basic survival needs of people for 72 hours.
According to the project leader, the safety shelter is designed for disaster scenarios such as earthquakes, floods, and extreme weather. It features rapid response and intelligent monitoring capabilities, and can transmit data such as temperature, humidity, and oxygen concentration inside the shelter in real time via the Internet of Things. At the same time, relevant departments have conducted multiple disaster prevention drills to guide citizens to familiarize themselves with the evacuation procedures. In the future, the city will gradually expand the coverage of the safety shelters, optimize the location selection based on community layouts, and make the disaster prevention facilities closer to people's lives, effectively enhancing the city's emergency evacuation capabilities.
